PCMA Education Foundation Student Planner of the Year Session
Student Leadership: From University to Servant Leadership
| Leadership |
Essential Education |
Created by PCMA Student Planner of the Year Astrid E. Schrier, Temple University
Are you committed to an organization's philosophy and would like to assist in achieving their goals? Do you feel like you have a lot to offer but are unsure how to lead the charge? Robert K. Greenleaf wrote extensively on a new kind of leadership model that puts serving others, including employees, customers, volunteers, and community as the number one priority. Through interactive exercises and discussions, participants will explore "servant- leadership" as described by Greenleaf, examine the characteristics of Servant-Leaders, and have an opportunity to assess their own servant-leader abilities. Discover how to achieve results in line with an organization's values and integrity, when you become a leader that emphasizes trust, empathy and the ethical use of power.
LEARNER OUTCOMES:
Identify the meaning of servant leadership and how it can apply to your organization and the meetings industry.
Determine leadership opportunities in your student chapter.
Re-design your student chapter using the ideals of servant leadership.
SPEAKER:
Jan Levy, Executive Director, Leadership Tomorrow
